Is there a graceful way?

Is there a graceful way to get into a kayak?  This seems to be up for debate.  My husband liked this page about him but he objected to my title.  He thinks he is graceful, well, except for one of the photos.  Anyway, it is a page sharing some of the fun he is having with his new hobby, kayaking.

To contain all these photos, I did a foldout.  The page also features some fun titling with the Silhouette.  If you have a Silhouette, check out my Silhouette Titles and Text class on my class page: Class Descriptions

Several cards to share

Here are several cards I've made over the last couple of months.  First a few holiday cards and then 3 birthday cards.

I've just finished the last layout for my new class so I hope to get some regular layout videos up soon.  Thanks for watching!

My favorite Snowman

I've had this snowman set a long time and made a lot of cards with it.  I just love this snowman.  Hopefully one of you will love him, too. I have put that set and the one with the snowflake swirls on my Etsy shop.

In the meantime, here is one last card with this pretty set:

The video mentions some Stazon Ink refills I'm giving away.  If you are interested, leave a comment on the video with an email so I can get in touch with you.  No charge, I just want to move them out.  Must be mailed to a US address.

Have a great day!

Reflecting

A few days ago I was talking with a former customer of mine and she mentioned she had sold her house.  What?  I was so surprised.  She had talked about selling years ago after we had done several rooms in window treatments but decided to keep it and did quite a bit more to the home and grounds including more window coverings.  It is a beautiful place.

It kind of made me sad. When I closed my business, I cleaned up my work area and pretty much walked away.  I've been back to the space doing occasional projects for myself and getting rid of stuff but mostly I was ready to be done after 16 years.  I didn't grieve the closure of the business at all.

Thinking though of my friend and client not in her lovely home anymore (though I'm sure she will relocate to an equally lovely space) made me a bit sad. She made such perfect fabric selections for herself and I enjoyed helping her make the space functional and beautiful.  That part of the business I do miss.

So this art journal page is a bit about that and the journey from being very excited at the start to a slowing down at the end.  It uses watercolors, markers and some paper memorabilia.

Hope you enjoy the process video:

No Pigging Out

For months my husband talked about this barbeque restaurant he wanted to return to for his birthday lunch.  He's been losing weight this year so this was a non-diet day.  I wanted to celebrate both is birthday and his weight loss.

The title No Piggin' Out covers both and has that cute little piggy from the Silhouette store.  All the elements of the page were designed to tell the story and that is what my next class will be about.  Look for the class coming in October.

Embossed Cards

I wanted to use this Hero Arts stamp once more before it makes it onto my Etsy shop.  (I'll probably add a few things at once later on this month.)  It is a pretty stamp to use for embossing or to stamp with an archival ink and color in between the design.

Here I've stamped on gelli printed bookpapers.  If you haven't tried bookpaper for your projects, it really adds a wonderful layer of design and the thinner paper is very versatile for so many projects. Check out my Etsy shop for variety packs of bookpaper.  Smaller packs have 20 sheets from all different sources. Larger packs have 32 sheets, all from different sources!
Also I have a Bookpaper pin board on Pinterest.

Also in the video below is this holiday card using simple embossing on a die cut.  Making a few of these cleared out some older holiday paper I've had in my stash.

Process video for both cards:

I want to use this holiday set again for another card and soon it will also be on Etsy.

A traditional birthday page

This wasn't as much of a surprise as implied.  You see, my aunt who planned the party told my mother about it.  Mother tries to keep a secret but she just can't help but whisper loudly about things which no longer works since my Dad wears hearing aids now.  She also tends to dress up a bit more when they are going somewhere special and he pays attention to things like that.  For this party, she kept reminding him what time they were to meet my aunt and uncle for dinner.  He also doesn't forget anything and doesn't need reminding. So about the 5th time she told him they had to be sure and be at the restaurant at 6:00, he was definitely on to her.

Anyway, it was a nice treat for him to celebrate his birthday.

For this very traditional birthday page, I used an older Stampin' Up! stamp set and 3 4x6 photos.  Here's the Process Video
